大和工業株式会社（以下、「大和工業」）は、スイスに本社を構える国際的なベンチャーキャピタル Emerald Technology Ventures（以下「Emerald」）が運営するファンドに鉄鋼メーカーとしては初めて出資することを決定しました。

Emeraldは2000年に創設され、スイス本社以外に、カナダ、シンガポールに拠点を擁し、欧米・イスラエル・アジアのスタートアップ集積地をカバーしながら、豊富な専門人材を擁することで、凡そ50社の多国籍企業のオープンイノベーションのパートナーとしてファンドを運営しています。同社が運営するファンドは、気候変動と持続可能性における課題に取り組むスタートアップ企業をポートフォリオとしています。

Yamato Kogyo Co., Ltd. has decided to invest in a fund managed by Swiss venture capital firm “Emerald Technology Ventures”

Yamato Kogyo Co., Ltd. (herein after, “Yamato Kogyo”) has decided to invest in a fund managed by global venture capital firm based in Switzerland called Emerald Technology Ventures (herein after, “Emerald”), which will be the first steel company to join Emerald.

Emerald founded in 2000 has offices in Canada and Singapore besides its headquarters in Switzerland, which covers startup hubs in North America, Europe, Israel and Asia, and boasts a wealth of specialists. Emerald operates funds as a partner for open innovation for approximately 50 multinational companies. The funds managed by Emerald focus on startups addressing challenges in climate change and sustainability.

Yamato Kogyo published new initiatives to realize the Vision 2030 that “Achieve and solidify a No.1 position as the global leader in structural steel (volume and profitability), and continue to embrace challenges in new business areas.” To achieve this target, we will accelerate collaboration and co-creation with startups that deliver advanced technologies through investing in this fund. This strategy aims at enhancing the productivity and environmental superiority of its core business in electric arc furnace operations, as well as exploring new business areas.
