2023/05/26大和工業株式会社が国際団体「Global Steel Climate Council」に加盟

大和工業株式会社（本社：兵庫県姫路市、代表取締役社長：小林　幹生）は、このたび、グローバル鉄鋼セクターの脱炭素化に取り組む国際団体「Global Steel Climate Council」に加盟しました。なお、同団体には当社のタイの連結子会社であるSiam Yamato Steel Co.,Ltd.及び米国の持分法適用関連会社のArkansas Steel Associates LLCも参加しております。

「Global Steel Climate Council」は2022年11月に米国鉄鋼メーカーや業界団体によって設立された国際団体で、幅広い地域から30以上の企業・団体が加盟しております。パリ協定で合意された1.5度目標の達成を目指し、先般4月26日に「The Steel Climate Standard」の草案を公表、6月中に最終的な基準を公表する予定です。

当社グループは、持続可能な社会の実現に貢献すべく、グループ一体となってサステナビリティ経営に注力しております。また、2020年にCSR委員会（現・サステナビリティ委員会）を設置、本年3月には「サステナビリティ基本方針」および「国内2030年/2050年環境Vision」を開示するなど、気候変動をはじめとする各種課題への取り組みを一層強化し、持続可能な社会の実現と当社グループの持続的成長・企業価値の向上を目指してまいります。

Yamato Kogyo Joins The Global Steel Climate Council

Yamato Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture; Representative Director, President: Mikio Kobayashi) has joined the Global Steel Climate Council, an international organization dedicated to decarbonizing the global steel sector. Our Thai subsidiary, Siam Yamato Steel, and our U.S. affiliated company, Arkansas Steel Associates LLC, are also members.

The Global Steel Climate Council is an international organization established in November 2022 by U.S. steelmakers and industry associations, with more than 30 member companies and organizations from a wide range of regions. The Council recently released a draft of “The Steel Climate Standard” on April 26, with the aim of realizing the 1.5 degree target agreed to in the Paris Agreement. The final standard will be published in June.

In order to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society, Yamato Kogyo has been working as one group to promote sustainability management. We established the CSR Committee (now the Sustainability Committee) in 2020, and disclosed our “Sustainability Policy” and “Domestic 2030/2050 Environmental Vision” in this March to further strengthen our efforts to address climate change and various other issues, aiming to realize a sustainable society and enhance the sustainable growth and corporate value of our group.
