Yamato Kogyo Group Human Right Policy
Yamato Kogyo Group embraces Yamato SPIRIT values and action guidelines in its corporate philosophy “MISSION, VISION, Yamato SPIRIT”: “Pride,” “Manufacturing,” “Global,” “Harmony,” “Fairness,” and “Challenge”.
Guided by the principles of “harmony” and “fairness” outlined above, we, as a responsible corporate citizen, will act with integrity, uphold these values and ethics, and fully respect human rights in our efforts to build a fair and healthy society.
As a guideline for promoting group-wide respect for human rights and fulfilling our responsibilities, we have newly established “Yamato Kogyo Group Human Rights Policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Policy”) based on international human rights standards.
1. Scope of Application
This Policy applies to all officers and employees of Yamato Kogyo Group (including officers, directors, regular employees and contract employees). Yamato Kogyo Group will also continuously encourage its business partners including suppliers and all stakeholders to respect this Policy.
2. Compliance with International Codes and Applicable Laws and Regulations
We are committed to supporting and respecting the principles of international covenants and treaties adopted from a global perspective, such as the “International Bill of Human Rights” and the “Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work” of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
We will comply with the laws and regulations of each country and region in which we operate and will also promote initiatives which respect human rights in accordance with “United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights”. If there is a conflict between local laws and international standards, we will strive to respect international standards to the greatest extent possible, while complying with the local requirements.
3. Responsibility to Respect Human Rights
As a global company, we recognize that our business activities may directly or indirectly impact human rights, and we are committed to respecting the human rights of all people involved.
- (1)We respect diversity and do not tolerate any unfair discrimination based on birth, nationality, race, ethnicity, language, religion, political orientation, gender, age, physical condition, illness, disability, educational background, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression (LGBTQ), social status, place of origin, or employment status.
- (2)We prohibit all forms of harassment including abuse of power (‘power harassment’) and any behavior that could harm individual dignity, and will endeavor to create a work environment that does not tolerate such conduct.
- (3)We will comply with laws and regulations concerning occupational health and safety and appropriate working environments in the countries and regions where we operate.
- (4)We will respect rights of workers in the countries and regions where operate.
- (5)We will comply with laws and regulations concerning wages including the principle of equal pay for equal work, and will ensure that workers receive a living wage. We will also strive to maintain and improve the health and work-life balance of our employees through appropriate management of working hours.
- (6)We do not tolerate forced labor, child labor, or human trafficking in any of our business activities.
- (7)We will strive to accurately understand and respect the culture, customs, history, and values of local communities in all countries and regions where we do business.
4.Education
We will provide appropriate education and conduct training to ensure that all officers and employees understand and act in accordance with this Policy.
5. Human Rights Due Diligence
We will establish a human rights due diligence framework to identify, assess, prevent, and mitigate adverse human rights impact within our company, our suppliers and other relevant parties, and to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of these efforts.
6.Remediation and Redress
To prevent human rights violations, we have established both internal and external reporting channels and will address any reported concerns through appropriate procedures. Anonymous reports are accepted, and we strictly prohibit any form of retaliation or unfavorable treatment against whistleblowers. All whistleblowers will be fully protected.
7.Dialogue with Stakeholders
In implementing our human rights initiatives, will utilize outside expertise as necessary, and maintain open, good-faith dialogue with relevant stakeholders.
8.Information Disclosure
We will regularly disclose information regarding our human rights initiatives.
This Policy was approved by the Board of Directors at its meeting held on April 30, 2025.
