Message from the President

I offer my heartfelt thanks for your generous support to the Company.
Yamato Kogyo is a global steel producer that will celebrate its 80th anniversary in November 2024. Since it was founded in 1944, the Company has established its domestic business from its headquarters in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, primarily in the production and sale of structural steel for use in civil engineering and construction. In the second half of the 1980s, the Company leveraged this foundation to begin taking on the challenge of overseas expansion earlier than other Japanese electric arc furnace steel producers. Based on the technology we have developed in Japan and our close relationships of trust with leading overseas partners, the Yamato Kogyo Group now operates production facilities in the United States, ASEAN (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia), the Middle East (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia), and South Korea. These overseas businesses have grown to account for approximately 70-80% of the total profits for the Yamato Kogyo Group today.

Steel is an important material that supports social infrastructure in countries all over the world. In addition to demand for steel products increasing in line with economic growth in developing countries, environmentally friendly products such as green steel are seeing rising demand in developed countries. As an electric arc furnace steel producer, the Company has embodied the circular economy by reusing ferrous scrap that has come to the end of its life and giving it a new purpose in the form of steel products. For the establishment of the social infrastructure necessary for countries and regions to develop and flourish, the Company’s approach, “local production for local consumption”, has also made contributions to the local economy. In addition, the electric arc furnace method that we use is an environmentally superior approach to steel production, and we expect it to play an increasingly important role in resolving problems related to climate change going forward.

In November 2023, our Group formulated its “Vision 2030” with the aim of further increasing its contributions to realizing a prosperous global society. We are by no means satisfied with the current situation. In preparation for helping to realize carbon neutrality and a circular economy, we have taken on ambitious challenges to further increase our corporate value, by executing our Group’s key strategies such as establishing our position as the global No. 1 in our core business of structural steel and foraying into new fields including steel, infrastructure, and green business.

The Group mission of “Our Steel, Your Future” incorporates the concept of contributing to the creation of a prosperous society through our global steel business. Maintaining the spirit of challenge that we have cherished since the founding of the Company at the center of everything that we do, we will create new value through our collaborations with various partners in Japan and overseas, and seek as a producer to become a leading company with cutting-edge technology supporting world’s infrastructure.
