Yamato Steel Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture; Representative Director, President: Yasuhiko Yamauchi), a consolidated subsidiary of Yamato Kogyo Co., Ltd. is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (‘GHG’) emissions in line with the Group’s medium- and long-term goals of the ‘Domestic 2030/2050 Environmental Vision’ and the ‘Sustainability Medium-term Plan’, with the aim of achieving a sustainable society. and the Medium-Term Sustainability Plan, the Group’s medium- to long-term goal of reducing GHG emissions.

As part of the Group’s efforts to meet its long-term goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050, the GHG emissions of the entire supply chain have been accurately calculated to quantitatively understand the environmental impact and to disclose reliable and transparent data to stakeholders. In order to ensure that we disclose reliable and transparent data to our stakeholders, we have undergone verification in accordance with the international standard ISO 14064-3 by an independent third party, Japan management Association GHG Certification Center, and obtained a verification report.

【Scope of verification】
Scope 3 GHG emissions in categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,12

・ Category 1 (Purchased products and services): Purchased products (products and services), including main and auxiliary raw materials
・ Category 2 (Capital goods): construction, purchased capital goods
・ Category 3 (Fuel and energy related activities not included in Scope 1 and 2): town gas, kerosene, electricity used
・ Category 4 (upstream transport and distribution): procurement logistics and shipping logistics of main and auxiliary raw materials and products
・ Category 5 (Waste from operations): industrial waste from the calculation subject.
・ Category 6 (Business travel): equivalent volume converted from the number of employees.
・ Category 7 (Employed commuting): equivalent amount converted from number of employees and number of working days
・ Category 12 (Disposal of products sold): equivalent amount converted from the weight of products shipped.
