Adjustable C-Type Guard

Significantly Reduces Guardrail Replacement Costs

Key Features

  1. The filler is consists of two parts - large and small - designed to be used as a pair. By interlocking the ridged and grooved surfaces of the fillers, the flange way width can be finely adjusted. Each pitch of the ridges and grooves corresponds to a 1 mm variation in width.
  2. The small filler is available in four different sizes, making it possible to match the dimensions of existing fillers.
  3. The flange way width can be adjusted by up to 5 mm.
  4. The adjustment range of the filler can be accommodated by replacing the standard guardrail washer with a double-sided gradient washer.
  5. Simply replacing the filler and the double-sided gradient washer allows an existing C-Type guard to be an adjustable C-Typed guard, eliminating the need to replace the deck plates or the sleepers.

Structure

Figure 1 shows a structural example of the adjustable C-Type guard.
For replacement, use the fillers (large and small) indicated in the red box and the double-sided gradient washer indicated in the blue box.

The double-sided gradient composed of two sides, the upper and lower, with different distances from the back side of the washer to the guardrail side. During the early stages, when the guardrail wear is minimal, Side A is used. As wear progresses and the flangeway width adjustment can no longer be accommodated on Side A, the washer is flipped upside down, and the guardrail is fastened using Side B.

Performance Benefits

By extending the lifespan of the guardrail, replacement costs can be reduced.
